Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme (BSIP)

The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has released the official notification of Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme (BSIP) 2021-2022. Interested and eligible students who are willing to learn about natural resource management and biodiversity conservation; support the projects of NBA in various States and Union Territories; and technically assist the State Biodiversity Boards/UT Biodiversity Councils in discharge of their mandates may apply online for this internship program.

Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme Details

Name of Internship Program: 3rd Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme (BSIP)

No of Internships: 25

Academic Session: 2021-2022

Duration of Internship: 1 year

Internship Location/s: NBA – Chennai, MoEFCC and UNDP – New Delhi and the State Biodiversity Boards/UT Biodiversity Councils across the country

Stipend: Rs. 22500/- per month

Eligibility Criteria of National Biodiversity Authority Internship Programme

Age Limit: Must be between 21-30 years of age .

Educational Qualification: Postgraduate degree and interest in natural resource management. Candidates pursuing their Postgraduate degree may also apply. However, they are required to submit a copy of their Masters Degree by 1 October 2021 to qualify for the internship.

Description of Tasks for BSIP Interns

i) Assist in the operationalisation and functioning of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in the States and Union Territories

ii) Assist BMCs in the preparation of People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs)

iii) Assist in the GOI-NBA-UNDP India Biodiversity Awards process

iv) Assist in the implementation of Biological Diversity Act, 2002

Selection Process of BSIP Internship Program

Candidates who submitted online application for this internship program must appear for an online exam in the month of October 2021 on aspects of natural resource management – specifically pertaining to India’s National Reports (NR5 and NR6) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, SDG and Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. Based on the performance they would be shortlisted for virtual personal interview in the month of November 2021.
